Fright Night

I recently watched the horror remake Fright Night with my friend. It starred David Tennant (partly the reason I wanted to watch it), Colin Farrell, and Anton Yelchin... who the majority of people might know from Star Trek. :)
And as far as vampire movies go, i've never been that interested. I liked Van Helsing purely for the lols, certainly not for the storyline haha... and I personally think Stephanie Meyer has ruined Vampire and Werewolf lore forever. SOILED IT. T_____T
but I reccommend Fright Night to anyone, because the characters are so well developed, the acting is amazing, and the storylines adequate too ;) Colin Farrell plays the main antagonist; he actually does such a convincing job of acting eerie and... Vampirical... that I was slightly frightened of him too :O
David Tennant plays a completely different character in this film, as opposed to all his other works. I have never seen him play a character that's so helpless haha, but he does it brilliantly, and provides the majority of laughs through the film :)
Another reason I enjoyed the film... the female protagonist is NOT... a Damsel in Distress. BOOYAH! She does not jump around screaming, running in circles like a headless chicken... but much the contrary, provides essential backup against the big scary monsters when required. That's what women should be like in films, PEOPLE!! :D Strong enough, yet feminine enough (she still had time to flirt, wear dresses and look generally ditzy).
FINALLY, I recommend Fright Night because it not only has all the ingredients for a good watch, but the soundtrack is amazing as well. The end credits song is by a guy named Hugo. Dunno if you've heard of him, but before this movie, I had not.

I love discovering new music as it is, but this guy did an AMAZING cover of a song originally by Jay-Z. If you're like me, and the original 99 Problems was too... rappy for you, listen to this version*. NOW. You will enjoy it, and have a good dance. ;)

  1. *unless you're below the age of 15. because there is the use of... pejorative language. it's mild but used in explicit forms, constantly through the song >.<
