I do not want to specify exactly who provoked this ventathon, nor to whom this has occurred, but
there has been a lot of anger and hate lately towards people trying to make a
statement.
Frankly, I believe that if it’s intended to offend, then
fair enough – people have the right to complain, portray their views, and criticise
the work. However, even then, the comments should not be offensive, because let’s
face it – what’s the point of rudely telling someone how rude they’re being? Kinda
hypocritical, if you ask me.
It happens to me a lot; I post something, or comment with a
statement that isn’t intended to offend, but manages to do so nonetheless. Then
I receive many comments in return, from ‘haters’ telling me I’m an evil bitch
for saying such rude things. It’s a vicious cycle, for if I retaliate, it would
only add fuel to the fire.
Additionally, it pisses me off (‘scuse the language), that people
complain about an artist’s work, when it is blatantly obvious the artist had a more
positive intention in mind. more so when the work is taken down to avoid
hassle, and some stupid ‘sh-t stirrers’ out there decide to plagiarise and
share the artist’s work anyway! It hurts me to see people trying to create an ‘internet
riot’, by posting up links saying “this is the work *insert name* took down, in case you
didn’t see it. Please let him/her know exactly how you feel about it (!)”
Yes, people make mistakes, yes, successful statements are
often controversial, and yes, sometimes internet uproar is inevitable because
of that. But we all need to get over this fake self-perception (superior,
righteous, and definitely vexatious) and spread some love and understanding
once in a while.
If you read this, then thank you, and I’m sorry for possibly wasting your time. >.<
Much love xxxx
